Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

1. Introduction

AaGlobal is committed to operating responsibly and sustainably while contributing positively to society and the environment.

2. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Demonstrate AaGlobal’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility principles.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards.
  • Promote sustainable development and positive social impact.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, Directors, contractors, and suppliers involved in AaGlobal operations.

4. Environmental Responsibility

AaGlobal strives to minimise environmental footprint by:

  • Prioritising Carbon Reduction Planning and implementing Environmental targets to align with the Company’s overarching goal of achieving NetZero by 2050.
  • Conducting volunteer work across the UK which benefits the environment – conservation. For example, between July 2023 to the end of 2024 165.5 hours of voluntary work has been completed.
  • Additional plans in place for volunteering in partnership with TCV Humber.
  • Recycling processes in place across the office site, with awareness campaigns also in place for hybrid and remote workers. With additional plans in place to ensure that by March 2025 food waste recycling is to be implemented, to align with Simpler Recycling Legislation.
  • Encouraging the use of public transport for workplace commuting – in the most recent staff travel survey, results showed 82% of staff use public transport or walk to work.
  • Purchasing/ Procurement decisions take into account environmental considerations.
  • Conducting environmental awareness training for staff.
  • Continuous monitoring of energy utility usage.

5. Social Responsibility

AaGlobal is committed to engaging with and supporting communities. Examples of how this is conducted are:

  • Contributing to local development and supporting charitable activities.
  • Dedicated social value champion responsible for implementing social responsibility initiatives across the UK. Examples of work conducted are School visits for career talks, sponsorships for charities and volunteer work.
  • Encouraging employee participation in volunteer programs via workplace benefit of 6 paid volunteer days per financial year for each full time member of staff.
  • Commitment to providing local linguists with assignments and their continuous professional development.

6. Ethical Practices

AaGlobal is dedicated to maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace by:

  • Providing fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal employment opportunities
  • Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Complying with the Modern Slavery Act to prevent forced labour and human trafficking. Including modern slavery compliance within supplier approval processes.
  • Safeguarding training provided to staff, Implemented by dedicated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy.
  • Annual measures of employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Training and developing AaGlobal employees as a way of shaping the culture of the Organisation.  
  • Deal fairly with any subcontractors and suppliers within AaGlobal’s supply chain. Including maintaining high standards of health and safety.

7. Governance and Transparency

AaGlobal ensures to commit to accountability and transparency by:

  • Regularly reporting CSR activities and achievements. Via:

o   Carbon Reduction Planning.

o   Environmental targets.

o   Social Value Commitments and tracking.

o   HR Policy Reviews.

8. Supply Chain Responsibility

AaGlobal ensures responsible sourcing by:

  • Setting ethical procurement standards for suppliers – regular review.
  • Requiring suppliers to comply with labour, environmental and ethical guidelines.

9. Health, Safety and Wellbeing

AaGlobal prioritises health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace, by:

  • Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Health and Safety Officer responsible for annual risk assessments.
  • Providing the mental health support and resources for employees – Life and Progress Employee Assistance Programme includes 24/7 support via phone and online.
  • Promoting healthy lifestyle with employees, For example, free fruit and vegetables provided weekly as a company benefit, blood pressure monitoring for staff as part of adhoc health checking.

10. Continued Development and Monitoring

AaGlobal will aim to continuously develop this Policy and its Corporate Social Responsibility practices, by:

  • Regular monitoring and reporting on performance.
  • Identifying opportunities and taking action where practical to meet legal obligations and improve sustainability.
  • Identifying adverse risks and impacts, mitigating these where possible.
  • Promoting Corporate Social Responsibility strategies across all employees.
